About

Tarot as a mirror, not a crystal ball.

So Tarot is a calm, privacy-conscious tarot companion. It exists to help you think more clearly about a real situation you're already carrying, not to sell you certainty about the future.

What So Tarot is

You can pull a free reading with no account, explore the full meaning of all 78 tarot cards, draw a daily card, and, if you choose to sign up, keep a private journal and watch the patterns that recur across your readings over time. The free experience is genuinely useful on its own; an account simply lets you save and build on it.

How the readings work

You choose a spread and draw your cards, and So Tarot interprets them together, applied to your specific question. The interpretation is generated by a language model working from the same traditional card meanings you'll find across this site, with firm guardrails: it frames everything as reflection, uses measured language, and never claims supernatural certainty. Your cards' identity always comes from your own draw. The reading interprets them, it doesn't change them.

What we believe

Reflection, not prediction

Every reading is written as a structured prompt to help you think, never a forecast of fixed events. So Tarot won't guarantee outcomes, predict death or illness, or give legal, medical, or financial instructions.

Grounded in tradition

Interpretations draw on the established upright and reversed meanings of the traditional 78-card tarot, applied to your question, not invented mysticism or generic filler.

Private by design

Your reading questions and journal entries are never sent to analytics. What you write stays yours. We don't sell your data, and we never will.

Calm, not clickbait

No urgency, no dark patterns, no manufactured fear. So Tarot is built to be a quiet, honest place to reflect, the opposite of most of the internet.

Who makes it

So Tarot is an independent project. The card meanings, spread guides, and articles are written and maintained by the So Tarot editorial team, grounded in traditional tarot symbolism and a consistent point of view: tarot is most useful as a tool for reflection. Have a question, some feedback, or a correction? Get in touch.

So Tarot is offered for reflection and entertainment and is not a substitute for professional advice. See our disclaimer for the full statement.

About So Tarot: common questions

What is So Tarot?

So Tarot is a tarot reading site that treats the cards as a structured prompt for reflection rather than a way of predicting events. It offers free readings, a daily card, complete meanings for all 78 cards, spreads, combinations, and a glossary, with an optional Premium tier for reading history and long-term patterns.

Who writes the readings?

Interpretations are generated by an AI model working from the traditional meanings of the cards you actually drew and the question you asked. The reference content (card meanings, spreads, combinations, glossary, and guides) is written and edited by the So Tarot editorial team.

Does So Tarot use AI?

Yes, and it says so plainly rather than presenting readings as coming from a person. The model is given the cards, their orientations, the spread positions, and your question, and is instructed never to claim knowledge of future events.

Is So Tarot a fortune-telling service?

No. Readings describe a situation from where you stand and hand judgement back to you. The distinction matters because confident claims about an unknowable future change people's decisions, which is the actual harm in predictive tarot.

Is my data private?

Your questions, interpretations, and journal entries are never sent to analytics, and readings are not shared or sold. The privacy policy sets out exactly what is stored and what leaves your browser.

How do I report an error in a card meaning?

Through the contact page. Corrections to the reference content are genuinely welcome: the card meanings, spreads, and glossary are a reference, and a reference that quietly carries an error is worse than one that gets fixed.
